Customs Generates N3.7trn in H1 2025 as FG Targets Enhanced Private Sector Growth
The Federal Government says it is strengthening trade reforms and revenue systems as the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) records impressive growth, generating ₦3.7 trillion in the first half of 2025.
The Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, disclosed this at the 62nd meeting of the NCS Board in Abuja. According to him, the figure is 12.5 per cent above the target set in the 2025 budget and 25 per cent higher than collections made within the same period in 2024.
Edun, who described the performance as commendable, said the results highlight the government’s ongoing efforts to modernise trade systems and improve fiscal stability. He, however, stressed the need for deeper reforms to achieve the ambitious revenue targets of the Tinubu administration.

A key part of these reforms, he noted, is the National Single Window Initiative, a digital trade platform that will be fully rolled out in 2026. The platform, designed to streamline import and export processes, is expected to cut delays, reduce costs, and enhance Nigeria’s competitiveness.
“The National Single Window will give Customs the speed and capacity to process trade more effectively, boosting revenue and positioning Nigeria as a more attractive hub for investment,” Edun said.
The board also ratified governance improvements within the Service, including senior-level appointments and promotions, aimed at upholding professional standards and strengthening institutional capacity.
Edun explained that the measures reflect President Bola Tinubu’s broader economic strategy of stabilising inflation and exchange rates, while fostering a transparent, technology-driven trade ecosystem that encourages private sector investment and drives sustainable growth.
