Kano Police Bust Kidnap Syndicate, Arrest Suspects
The Kano State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper and several members of his gang following the escape of a victim in Shanono Local Government Area.
Police spokespersons, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed that the breakthrough came after Kabiru Umar, a resident of Faruruwa Village, who was abducted in May 2025, managed to escape from captivity. Umar later identified one of his abductors, 30-year-old Inuwa Yusuf, also from Faruruwa Village. Acting on the intelligence, operatives apprehended Yusuf on August 31, 2025.

During interrogation, Yusuf confessed to his role in the abduction and admitted involvement in several other kidnapping incidents. He also disclosed the killing of another victim, Malam Isyaku, a resident of the same community.
Further investigations led to the arrest of additional members of the syndicate. They include Ibrahim Shuaibu, Aminu Sani, and Kabiru Mohammed, all from Faruruwa Village, as well as Buhari Habu from neighboring Katsina State.
Police sources revealed that manhunt operations are ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the criminal network.
The command assured residents of its commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes, urging the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely information to security agencies.
