Troops Neutralise 13 ISWAP- Boko Haram Terrorists in Failed Ambush at Kareto, Recover Arms
Troops of the Joint Task Force, North East (Operation HADIN KAI), have neutralised 13 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in a failed ambush and Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack along the Gubio–Damasak road in Borno State.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, when the troops were escorting humanitarian trucks conveying relief materials to displaced communities. The terrorists detonated two command IEDs and opened heavy fire in an attempt to halt the convoy.

In a subsequent exploitation of the area, the soldiers recovered eight AK-47 rifles, ten magazines, a large cache of 7.62mm ammunition, camel bags, several rolls of detonating cords, and primed IEDs.
During the encounter, one soldier sustained minor injuries and is reported to be in stable condition. Four tyres of a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle were damaged, while two escort trucks were gutted by fire.
Despite the incident, the troops successfully secured the humanitarian convoy, which has since continued to Damasak. Military authorities assured that deliberate clearance operations are ongoing in the general area to deny terrorists freedom of action and guarantee safe passage for humanitarian operations.
