AFIT Produces 302 New Personnel to Boost Air Force Technical Capacity

The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna, has graduated 302 officers, airmen and airwomen from its military courses, strengthening the technical manpower base of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

The graduation, held on Wednesday, 10 September 2025, was attended by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, who commended AFIT for its consistent record of discipline, academic excellence, and technological innovation.

Air Marshal Abubakar charged the graduands to apply their skills in maintaining Nigeria’s new-generation aircraft and ensuring their mission readiness.

“You are now the custodians of these platforms, entrusted with their safety, airworthiness, and combat readiness. The Service looks to you to uphold integrity, discipline and innovation as you contribute to the defeat of terrorism and insurgency,” he said.

The CAS also highlighted AFIT’s expanding role beyond the Air Force, citing its tuition-free training of Nigerian Army personnel for the Army Aviation Wing and the recent establishment of the NASENI North-West Technology Innovation Hub on its premises.

Earlier, AFIT Commandant, Air Vice Marshal Sani Labaran Rabe, said the Institute had witnessed remarkable growth in infrastructure, training programmes and research under the current leadership of the NAF. He reaffirmed AFIT’s commitment to producing skilled professionals capable of enhancing national defence and technological development.

The event also featured awards to outstanding graduands, with Air Marshal Abubakar recalling his own days as an AFIT student where he emerged the best graduating officer in 1992.
