Troops Arrest Cattle Rustlers, Recover Arms in Plateau Operation
Troops of 3 Division and the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace (JTF OPEP) have arrested two notorious cattle rustlers and recovered firearms in a successful operation in Plateau State.
The military said the operation, which was based on credible intelligence, took place on Thursday, 11 September 2025, at Kogul Village in Mangu Local Government Area.
During the raid, soldiers recovered one AK-47 rifle, a fabricated revolver rifle, an AK-47 magazine, ten rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a mobile phone and cash.

Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer of JTF OPEP, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Thursday, saying the suspects and exhibits are in custody for further investigation.
He added that follow-up operations are ongoing to track down other members of the cattle rustling syndicate believed to be behind recurring attacks and crises in the area.
“The arrest is pivotal to the ongoing efforts to tackle the triggers of crisis in the Joint Operations Area. Troops remain resolute in their mandate to secure communities and restore peace across Plateau State,” the statement read.
The military urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible information to aid ongoing operations against criminal networks in the region.
