Troops Foil Multiple Terrorist Attacks, Rescue Kidnap Victims in Zamfara, Kebbi, Katsina

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMAN (OPFY) have recorded significant successes in ongoing operations across the North-West, foiling terrorist attacks, rescuing kidnapped victims, and recovering stolen items in Katsina, Kebbi, and Zamfara States.

In Katsina State, troops of 17 Brigade Forward Operating Base (FOB) Mabai ambushed terrorists near Gatakawa village in Kankara Local Government Area, recovering a motorcycle and a mobile phone. Similarly, security forces repelled a bandit attack on Sabon Masallachi village, Ketare Ward, also in Kankara.

During the operation, five kidnapped victims—Abdullahi Danzaria, 40, Musbahu Ibrahim, 30, Rakiya Yusuf, 40, Hauwau Ahmadu, 30, and Sailuba Ahamad, 25—were rescued, while three rustled cows and three motorcycles were recovered unhurt after a fierce gun battle forced the bandits to flee into the forest.

Also in Danmusa LGA, troops of FOB Danmusa swiftly responded to an ambush on personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) near Danmusa Forest. The attack was repelled with the support of soldiers, but one NSCDC operative sustained gunshot wounds and later died at Danmusa General Hospital.

In Kebbi State, troops of 8 Division Garrison engaged terrorists at Ungushi village in Kebbe LGA, forcing them to flee. A civilian injured in the crossfire was evacuated to Kebbe General Hospital.

Also, in Augie LGA, troops in collaboration with the NSCDC responded to terrorist activity in Tunga Dade, Mera village, where the attackers carted away a motorcycle before escaping. Troops pursued them but made no further contact.

Similarly in Zamfara State, troops of 1 Brigade Team 7 on patrol at Mararaba Kyeware in Tsafe LGA came under ambush at Kuka village on their return. The soldiers fought through the ambush, with two sustaining gunshot wounds. They were evacuated to Tsafe General Hospital for stabilisation and later transferred to 1 Brigade Medical Centre.

Military sources confirmed that operations remain ongoing across the region, even as peace accords are simultaneously being explored with some bandit leaders in the North-West.
