Troops Neutralise Five Terrorists in Borno, Taraba Operations
Troops of the Nigerian Army have continued to record successes in the ongoing counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations across the North East and North Central regions, with the neutralisation of five terrorists in separate encounters in Borno and Taraba States, PRNigeria learnt.
In Borno, troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and hunters, ambushed Boko Haram insurgents at Umbo Gen area on Monday evening during Operation Desert Sanity IV.
Security sources told Zagazola that the troops engaged the terrorists in a heavy firefight, killing three of them, while others fled in disarray. Recovered items from the scene included an AK-47 rifle and an Itel mobile phone. No casualty was recorded on the side of the troops.

Similarly, troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), neutralised two terrorists in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State on the same day.
The operation, which followed credible intelligence of a planned attack on Chanchanji community by suspected members of the Bojo group, saw troops intercepting the assailants along the Demeva–Chanchanji road. One terrorist was neutralised during the initial exchange of fire, while another was killed in a follow-up operation at Demeva–Gbudu axis.
Items recovered included one G3 rifle, 16 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a motorcycle. Troops have since intensified patrols within the axis to reassure residents of their safety.
Military authorities confirmed that the general security situation in both Borno and Taraba remained calm but unpredictable, with troops maintaining aggressive surveillance and combat readiness to deny terrorists freedom of action.
