According to intelligence reports, surveillance aircraft had detected unusual movements at the location, where about 45 terrorists were observed converging. Many of them reportedly arrived on motorcycles and bicycles from different directions to join the assembly. Reconnaissance also confirmed the presence of two terrorist flags hoisted at the site, indicating its use as a major stronghold and rallying point.
Acting on the intelligence, NAF fighter jets launched coordinated interdiction strikes that inflicted heavy casualties on the terrorists. The operation also destroyed a flagged structure and other assets within the enclave.
A statement by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, said the devastating air strikes underscored the military’s resolve to deny terrorists the freedom to regroup or mount attacks on communities in the North East.
Ejodame added that the success of the mission further reassures Nigerians of the Armed Forces’ commitment to restoring peace and stability in the region.
