During the exchange, the bandits damaged the front tyre and side glasses of a police Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) before retreating into the forest.

One victim, identified as 15-year-old Nabiha Mani, was rescued with a gunshot wound to her thigh. She was first taken to the Comprehensive Health Centre in Matazu for emergency treatment and later referred to the Orthopaedic Hospital in Katsina for specialised care.

Security sources confirmed that clearance operations have been intensified in the area to track down the fleeing bandits and prevent further attacks.
