The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the recovery of seven additional bodies of security operatives killed during a deadly clash with suspected herdsmen and local militia in Agu Centre, Katsina-Ala Local Government Area.

The fresh discovery brings the total death toll from the attack to 11.

According to security sources, the bodies recovered include six police officers and one member of the Civil Protection Guard. They have since been deposited at the Katsina-Ala General Hospital.

The sources also disclosed that Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) John Aledu, attached to Operation Zenda, remained missing as of the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, police tactical teams, working alongside local hunters and vigilantes, have intensified search and rescue operations to locate the missing officer.

In a related development, 15 additional suspects were arrested in Ukum Local Government Area in connection with the incident. This brings the total number of suspects in custody to 21, following the earlier arrest of six others in Katsina-Ala.

The police assured that, in collaboration with sister security agencies, it remains committed to apprehending all those responsible for what it described as a heinous crime.
