DSS Quizzes Ex-Minister Malami Over Attack on Convoy in Kebbi
The Department of State Services (DSS) has interrogated former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, over the September 1 attack on his convoy in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.
It was gathered that Malami appeared at the DSS Command in Birnin Kebbi on Monday, where he was questioned regarding the violent incident. He later confirmed that the session was conducted in a “professional and transparent manner.”
The attack occurred shortly after Malami returned from a condolence visit to the family of the late Chief Imam of Dr. Bello Haliru Jumu’ah Mosque. Witnesses said suspected political thugs vandalised about 10 vehicles in his convoy, leaving several of his supporters injured.

Describing the incident as “politically motivated,” Malami had petitioned security agencies, including the police and DSS. The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State, however, distanced itself from the violence.
Providing an update via Facebook on Monday night, Malami said:
“I can confirm that I have been invited by the Department of State Services (DSS) to support investigation into the attack on my person and convoy in Kebbi State on the 1st of September, 2025.
The petition is apparently triggered by opposition high-profile political elements in the state. I must commend the DSS for the professional and transparent manner in which they have conducted their inquiry. I was treated with dignity and respect, and I remain committed to cooperating fully with the Department to ensure that their investigation is concluded successfully.”
