Troops Kill Terrorists, Rescue Victims, Foil N19m Oil Theft in Nationwide Operations

The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) has recorded major successes in the fight against insecurity across the country, killing scores of terrorists, arresting criminal collaborators, rescuing kidnapped victims, and foiling oil theft valued at over N19 million within the past week.

Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, disclosed this in Abuja during the weekly press briefing on military operations for the week ending 25 September 2025.

According to him, troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) sustained pressure on Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters in Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa States, eliminating several insurgents and rescuing three kidnapped victims. He added that 26 terrorist collaborators and informants were arrested, with arms, ammunition, and vehicles recovered.

In the North West, Operation Fansān Yamma (OPFY) troops conducted offensive operations in Kaduna, Zamfara, Katsina, and Sokoto States, killing terrorists and rescuing 14 kidnapped victims. A notorious terrorist, Mallam Abubakar Ahmadu, was also captured in Niger State.

The North Central theatre under Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) saw troops responding to multiple distress calls in Plateau and Kaduna States, where 52 criminals were arrested and nine kidnapped victims rescued. Similarly, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) troops killed armed elements in Benue and Taraba States, arresting a high-profile kidnapper, Saawuan Wuaiyolna, alongside other suspects.

In the South-South, Operation Delta Safe (OPDS) foiled oil theft worth N19.75 million, seizing thousands of litres of stolen crude oil, PMS, and DPK. Troops also destroyed 16 illegal refining sites, 14 crude oil cooking ovens, and arrested 19 oil thieves.

The report further noted that Operation UDO KA troops in the South East neutralised criminals in Imo, Enugu, Anambra, and Cross River States, rescuing three kidnapped victims and recovering weapons and improvised explosive devices.

General Kangye commended the troops’ bravery, assuring Nigerians that the Armed Forces remained resolute in restoring peace across all regions.
