EFCC Chairman Charges Fresh Cadets on Integrity, Discipline

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has charged newly graduated cadets of the Commission to uphold the highest standards of integrity, discipline, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

Olukoyede gave the charge on Friday, September 26, 2025, during the Passing-Out Parade of 404 cadets at the Nigeria Police Mobile Force Training College, Ende Hills, Akwanga, Nasarawa State. The graduating officers comprise 294 Detective Superintendents and 110 Detective Inspectors.

Addressing the cadets, the EFCC boss underscored the weight of responsibility that comes with being an anti-graft officer.

“Being an operative of the EFCC carries heavy responsibilities of personal discipline, integrity, courage and accountability. The EFCC has zero tolerance for corruption and compromise. You are coming into an organisation that places a high premium on integrity and rectitude,” Olukoyede said.

He reminded the officers that integrity is not a slogan but a guiding principle of the Commission, warning that punitive measures against corrupt practices within the EFCC remain stringent.

“You must fit adequately into the mould of officers that are well-rewarded and morally upright. It is often said that he that comes to equity must come with clean hands. Nothing can be truer than this. You cannot offer the nation what you don’t have,” he added.

Olukoyede further highlighted the Commission’s heavy investment in the cadets’ training, noting that it was aimed at equipping them with intellectual capacity, physical agility, and the professional comportment required to compete with global counterparts.

“The Commission has invested heavily in your training because we believe in turning out officers moulded in sound intellect, physical agility, courageous comportment and accountable conduct. In your individual capacities, you are equipped as international law enforcement officers and you must see yourselves as such,” he said.

On the wider fight against corruption, the EFCC chairman emphasized that collective commitment from all Nigerians was crucial, while urging the new officers to surpass existing records in investigations and prosecutions.

The Reviewing Officer at the parade, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, commended the cadets for their resilience and determination, expressing optimism about Nigeria’s future.

“After witnessing what you have just demonstrated today, we believe that the future of Nigeria is very bright,” Governor Sule said. He further urged the National Assembly to consider the creation of a special anti-corruption court to strengthen the EFCC’s mandate.

Similarly, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes, Senator Emmanuel Udende, and his counterpart in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, congratulated the new officers and tasked them with upholding the values of diligence and patriotism.

The ceremony also featured special recognitions for outstanding cadets. Amagiya Efe Princewill emerged as the Overall Best Cadet in the Superintendent category, while Sanni Ayoola Blessing was named Overall Best Cadet in the Inspector cadre.
