FCT Police Nab 7 Suspects Over NYSC Graduate’s Murder, Recover Stolen Vehicle

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has recorded significant breakthroughs in its ongoing fight against violent crimes, with the arrest of seven notorious “one-chance” suspects linked to the murder of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member and the recovery of a stolen vehicle after a gun battle with armed robbers in Abuja.

In a statement made available to newsmen, police sources confirmed that operatives of the Command, acting on intelligence, apprehended the suspects accused of killing Miss Oluchi Opara Glory, a corps member who had recently completed her service in Abuja.

The arrests, carried out between August 8 and September 25, 2025, followed a petition submitted by Onyegbula Akujuobi & Co. legal practitioners to the Inspector General of Police on July 21, 2025. The case was subsequently endorsed to the FCT Police Commissioner and taken up by the Scorpion Squad led by ACP Victor O. Godfrey.

The suspects were identified as: Solomon Obada (29), Olemba Ajonwe (29), Aba Godwin (40), Kadijat Yakubu (18), Sunday Ejih Okpeh (29), Joseph Oche Samuel (25), and Michael Sunday Eneh (25). Police said one other suspect remains at large.

Forensic tracking of the victim’s phone led to its recovery from Kadijat Yakubu in Kaduna. During interrogation, Obada and Ajonwe confessed to holding the victim inside their operational vehicle, a blue Golf car, and stabbing her during a struggle over her android phone before abandoning her while she bled in Wuse II, Abuja.

Recovered items include the victim’s phone and the gang’s operational vehicle. Police assured that investigations are ongoing and justice will be served.

In a separate incident, operatives of the Command also foiled a robbery attack at the NNPC Estate, Karmo/Life Camp, in the early hours of Thursday. At about 3:48 a.m., armed robbers reportedly tied up security guards on duty and dispossessed a resident of his black Toyota Avalon car (registration number BWR-946 DV).

Following a distress call, police patrol teams pursued the suspects towards Giri Airport Road, near the Civil Defence Headquarters. A gun duel ensued, forcing the hoodlums to abandon the vehicle and flee into a nearby bush.

Recovered from the scene were the Toyota Avalon, a locally fabricated firearm, a taser, and a machete. Police authorities said investigations are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects.

The FCT Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property across the territory, pledging to sustain intelligence-driven operations against violent crimes.
