Kano Police Intercept Illicit Drugs Worth N82m, Arrest 19-Year-Old Suspect
The Kano State Police Command has intercepted suspected intoxicants valued at over N82 million and arrested a 19-year-old suspect in connection with the illicit drugs.
The operation, which took place on September 20, 2025, followed credible intelligence received by the command about a suspicious vehicle conveying cartons of intoxicants to Rimin Auzinawa Quarters in Kano.
According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, police operatives, acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, promptly trailed the vehicle to the location. The premises were cordoned off, leading to the arrest of one Usman Umar, a resident of the house where the vehicle was parked.

SP Kiyawa said the suspect is currently assisting police investigators to unravel the network behind the illegal trade and ensure all culprits are brought to justice.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bakori, commended the vigilance and cooperation of Kano residents, whose timely information made the operation successful. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ridding the state of drug abuse and trafficking.
He further urged the public to continue providing credible information to security agencies, assuring confidentiality and swift action, while reiterating that “together, we can build a safer and drug-free Kano State.”
