Army Signals Commander Assesses Communication Infrastructure for Operation HADIN KAI

The Nigerian Army’s Commander, Corps of Signals (CCS), Major General Nosakhare Ugbo, paid an operational assessment visit to the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), on Saturday, September 27, 2025. The visit is part of ongoing strategic efforts to enhance and secure effective communication support for counter-insurgency operations.

Maj. Gen. Ugbo explained that his mission was to evaluate the installation, maintenance, and protection of critical communication infrastructure across the theatre. He interfaced with commanders and conducted on-the-spot evaluations of signals projects, all in line with directives from the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede.

He stressed the vital importance of protecting these assets. “These assets are vital to sustaining effective coordination and command systems,” he said, assuring OPHK of the Corps’ continuous support in delivering robust and innovative communication solutions.

Communication as “The Backbone of Successful Operations”

In his remarks, the Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, described communication as “the backbone of successful operations.” He lauded the Commander Corps of Signals for his foresight and innovative drive, assuring him that all critical infrastructures would be protected to guarantee sustained operational effectiveness for regional and national security.

Earlier, Commander 57 Signal Brigade, Brigadier General Nelson Okafor, briefed the CCS on the deployment of communication equipment and ICT projects. He noted that these efforts have significantly enhanced command and control functions across the theatre.

The visit concluded with detailed operational briefs, the exchange of souvenirs, and group photographs with Sector and Component Commanders.

The report was signed by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI.
