NDLEA Nabs 2 Drug Kingpins in Lagos, Intercepts Bandits’ Drug Supply in Northeast
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has dealt a significant blow to international drug trafficking and local criminal networks, announcing the arrest of two major drug kingpins in Lagos and the interception of large drug consignments destined for terrorists and bandits in Borno and Yobe states.
The agency’s Special Operations Unit (SOU) apprehended the two Lagos-based kingpins following weeks of intense surveillance, recovering large quantities of cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine prepared for export to Europe and other destinations.
Kingpins Masked as Respectable Businessmen
The arrested individuals have been identified as Victor Nwosa, 64, who posed as a successful textile merchant, and Felix Chika Obiegbu, 49, who operated as a wine distributor. The NDLEA revealed that both men maintained a façade of legitimate business to conceal their extensive illicit drug operations.
Nwosa was arrested on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at his Okota home, where operatives recovered 4.33 kilograms of heroin and 448 grams of cocaine. Obiegbu was apprehended on Thursday, September 11, at his Surulere residence, leading to the seizure of 2.902 kilograms of methamphetamine.
Supplies to Bandits Thwarted in Northeast
In a separate, critical operation, NDLEA operatives in Borno and Yobe states successfully intercepted suspected suppliers moving illicit drugs to bandits and terrorists.
Borno State: On Saturday, September 27, officers arrested Baba Kaka Ibrahim, 26, near Njimtilo village. He was driving a Mercedes Benz jeep with 39,380 pills of Tramadol 225mg and Exol-5 concealed within the vehicle’s engine compartment. The consignment was heading towards Damaturu.

She was found with 39 parcels of Colorado (synthetic cannabis) weighing 1.4kg, hidden inside her travelling bag. A swift follow-up operation led to the arrest of a second woman, Habiba Muhammad, in Maiduguri.
Massive Skunk Farmland Destroyed in Edo
The agency also conducted a major offensive against cannabis cultivation in Edo State, destroying over 24,146 kilograms of Skunk across two major forest areas.
On Tuesday, September 23, officers destroyed 12,115.6kg of Skunk on a 4.8-hectare cannabis plantation in Uromi forest, Esan West LGA, arresting two suspects: Ernest Uche and Felix Mugorga. The following day, an additional 12,031.2kg of the psychoactive substance was destroyed on another 4.4-hectare farm in Ogu forest, Igueben LGA.
In a related seizure, two suspects were arrested after a truck conveying 1,025kg of skunk concealed in charcoal bags was intercepted along the Wareke-Auchi road.
More Arrests and Seizures Nationwide
Across the country, the NDLEA recorded several other significant busts:
Kano: Two suspects were arrested on the Zaria-Kano road with 30,030 pills of Tramadol.
Bayelsa: Three suspects were arrested at Swali jetty, Yenagoa, with 12kg of skunk and 50 Diana AAA cartridges.
Ekiti: An ex-convict, Femi Owoeye, previously sentenced for drug trafficking in 2016, was rearrested with 32kg of skunk.
Kaduna: A suspect was caught with 404 blocks of skunk weighing 262.6kg at the Abuja-Kaduna tollgate. A follow-up operation in Gombe State led to the arrest of the consignment’s receiver.
Meanwhile, the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the officers and men of the various commands for their “dexterity” and successful operations.
He stated that the operations underscore the agency’s commitment to “safeguarding Nigeria from illicit substances that threaten public health and national security.”
“Every gram of these dangerous drugs we seize and remove from our streets and communities, reinforces our determination to protect our youths, disrupt criminal networks, and strengthen national security,” Marwa added, urging operatives to maintain their balanced approach to drug control efforts.
