Troops Arrest Gunrunner, Terrorist Collaborators, in Niger, Katsina, Recover Firearms
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have continued to intensify efforts against terrorism and banditry, with recent arrests made in Niger and Katsina States, PRNigeria reports.
In Niger State, operatives of the Joint Task Force (JTF) intercepted a suspected gunrunner, Lawal Mohammed, 35, from Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State. He was apprehended in Kampany Mailafia community while waiting for transport to Gusau.
Recovered from him were 18 locally made guns, a torchlight, a travelling bag, a bottle of perfume, four pairs of clothes, and ₦45,200. The suspect is currently in custody for further investigation.

Similarly, Zagazola reported that in Katsina State, troops of 17 Brigade, in collaboration with the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), arrested suspected terrorist collaborators in Kankara Local Government Area.
Those arrested include Aminu Rabiu Zango, 52, identified as a logistics supplier, and Alhaji Abdulrahman Tambaya, 52, a known terrorist informant. Rabiu reportedly confessed that his son supplies weapons and ammunition to a notorious terrorist kingpin, Babaru, and had recently relocated to Karu, Abuja. He also admitted to working for Alhaji Iliya Zango, believed to be Babaru’s superior.
Tambaya, on his part, was found with one of Babaru’s active phone numbers stored in his handset.
Security sources disclosed that another suspected logistics supplier, Ado Dan Zaria, escaped arrest by scaling the fence of his residence when troops arrived. His house was later searched and destroyed.
The latest breakthroughs, according to security operatives, highlight the ongoing determination of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to dismantle terrorist networks and curb the flow of arms fueling insecurity across the region.
