Gov Yusuf Launches N800m Youth Empowerment Scheme in Kano
Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commenced the disbursement of the first tranche of the state’s youth empowerment programme, with over ₦800 million released to support budding entrepreneurs.
The initiative, unveiled on Tuesday at a ceremony in Kano, is part of the administration’s drive to tackle unemployment and promote self-reliance among young people.
According to the governor, a total of 5,384 beneficiaries—comprising both young men and women—have each received ₦150,000, amounting to ₦800,700,000 in the first phase.
Governor Yusuf said the programme was designed to equip youths with the capital needed to establish or expand small-scale businesses, thereby making them active players in the state’s economic growth.

The governor urged the beneficiaries to use the funds judiciously, stressing that the scheme was not a handout but an investment in their potential.
He also appealed to those who are yet to benefit from the programme to exercise patience, assuring them that the second tranche would be rolled out in due course.
Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to continue implementing policies and programmes that prioritize youth empowerment, job creation, and sustainable livelihoods across Kano State.
The scheme is expected to ease pressure on the job market, stimulate economic activities, and reduce poverty levels in the state.
