EFCC Arrests 42 Suspected Internet Fraudsters, Recovers Laptops, Phones in Yobe
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 42 suspected internet fraudsters in Gashua Local Government Area of Yobe State.
According to a statement posted on the Commission’s official Facebook page, operatives of the Maiduguri Zonal Directorate carried out the sting operation on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, following credible intelligence on the suspects’ alleged involvement in cybercrimes.

During the raid, EFCC operatives recovered several items including seven motorcycles, one Mercedes Benz car, 55 phones and laptops, as well as PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 gaming consoles.
The anti-graft agency said preliminary intelligence linked the suspects to various forms of computer-related fraud.
“The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” the Commission stated.
The arrests mark the latest in EFCC’s nationwide clampdown on internet fraudsters, popularly known as “Yahoo boys.”
