We Arrested 450 Terrorists, Rescued 180 Abducted Victims in One Month – Military

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced significant breakthroughs in the fight against terrorism and criminality across Nigeria, confirming that troops arrested 450 terrorists and rescued 180 kidnapped victims during multiple operations in September.

According to the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Markus Kangye, 39 terrorists also surrendered to troops within the period, while several weapons, ammunition, and logistics used by insurgents were recovered.

The operations, he said, were conducted under various joint task forces, including Operation Hadin Kai, Operation Fansan Yamma, Operation Enduring Peace, Operation Whirl Stroke, Operation Delta Safe, and Operation Udo Ka.

“The Armed Forces remain committed to transparency, accountability, and the lawful execution of all missions in line with both international and domestic rules of engagement,” Kangye stated.

Troops recovered 63 assorted firearms, 4,475 rounds of ammunition, and 294 items ranging from grenades and improvised explosive device (IED) components to motorcycles, vehicles, and handheld radios.

In the South-South, personnel under Operation Delta Safe intensified the crackdown on oil theft, recovering crude oil worth ₦112,175,220 and destroying 41 illegal refining sites.

Maj.-Gen. Kangye emphasized that the military remains focused on safeguarding civilian lives while ensuring the safety and welfare of its personnel engaged in ongoing operations nationwide.

The September operational report reflects what security analysts describe as a sustained momentum in degrading terrorist networks, rescuing victims of abductions, and curbing criminal enterprises such as oil bunkering.
