Mining Marshals Arrests 5 Illegal Miners in Niger, Seize Logistics
The Mining Marshal has intensified its clampdown on illegal mining in Niger State, arresting five suspected miners during a midnight raid in Katcha Local Government Area.
Acting on credible intelligence, operatives stormed the mining site and apprehended the suspects allegedly involved in unlawful mineral extraction. The raid also led to the seizure of nine motorcycles and several mining tools.

Speaking to journalists at the State Command headquarters in Minna, the State Commandant, Suberu Siyaka Aniviye, described illegal mining as an act of economic sabotage, warning that offenders will face the full weight of the law.
He urged traditional rulers and community leaders to support the ongoing sensitisation campaign, noting that illegal mining undermines government’s efforts to regulate and develop Nigeria’s solid minerals sector.
According to the Command, investigations are underway, and the arrested suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion.
