Troops Repel Terrorists Attacks in Borno, Launch Rescue Operation for Abducted Villagers
Nigerian troops under Operation HADIN KAI have successfully repelled separate attacks by Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Borno State, averting potential civilian and military casualties, PRNigeria learnt.
The twin incidents occurred on Sunday in Malari Village, Konduga Local Government Area, and along the Pump House axis of Gamboru Ngala–Kala Balge Road.
In the first incident, Zagazola reported that suspected Boko Haram terrorists invaded Malari Village around 1:30 p.m., shooting sporadically and abducting three residents identified as Hassan Maitulare, Mallam Modu Kawori, and another yet-to-be-identified victim.

According to security sources, the attackers, who rode on motorcycles from the surrounding bush, were swiftly engaged by troops of Operation HADIN KAI, supported by the Police Crack Squad in Konduga, members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and local hunters. The combined forces successfully repelled the assault and have since launched a coordinated search-and-rescue operation to free the abducted victims and apprehend the fleeing insurgents.
In a related development, troops repelled an attempted ISWAP infiltration of a Forward Operating Base (FOB) along the Gamboru Ngala–Kala Balge Road at about 1:15 a.m. the same day.
Intelligence sources said the terrorists tried to breach the base but met stiff resistance from the soldiers, who engaged them in a fierce gun duel. The troops overpowered the insurgents, killing one terrorist whose corpse was recovered after the encounter.
The sources confirmed that the security situation around the base and surrounding communities has since been stabilized, with troops maintaining heightened vigilance to prevent further incursions.
The successful counterattacks underscore the sustained operational readiness of Nigerian forces in the North-East and their commitment to neutralizing terrorist threats while safeguarding lives and restoring peace to the region.
