Atiku Criticises DSS, Demands Probe of Tinubu Cabinet Following Minister’s Resignation
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has launched a sharp attack on the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration, demanding an independent investigation into the credentials of all cabinet members following the resignation of the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Uche Nnaji.
In a press statement, Abubakar, who served as Vice President from 1999 to 2007, argued that Nnaji should have been summarily dismissed and prosecuted, rather than allowed to exit through a “voluntary resignation” which he called an attempt to “whitewash yet another scandal.”
DSS Criticized for “National Disgrace”
Abubakar specifically criticized the Department of State Services (DSS) for its role in clearing Nnaji. He contrasted the screening process with the DSS’s alleged decision to screen out former Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai over “security concerns.”

“The DSS truly deserves our flowers for this national disgrace,” Abubakar stated, accusing the agency of a “failure of due diligence” that has made Nigeria “an object of ridicule before the world.” He questioned how many other individuals with questionable credentials are occupying sensitive positions in the current government.
The former Vice President argued that Nnaji’s case is not isolated but is “a reflection of a pattern, a rot that begins from the very top.” He referenced President Tinubu’s decades-long controversies surrounding his identity, age, and academic records, including the Chicago State University saga.
Abubakar asserted that the President’s personal history of alleged forgery has “institutionalized falsehood in public service,” making it unsurprising that his ministers and aides are following suit by falsifying documents and records.
“When a man of questionable identity leads a country, deception becomes the standard of governance,” he wrote.
Abubakar concluded by demanding an independent, transparent, and comprehensive investigation into the academic and professional credentials of all members of the Federal Executive Council, “beginning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu himself.”
“The time has come to rescue our country from the grip of deceit and restore integrity to public life,” he stated.
