Third Estate Warns Against Spreading Insecurity in Kwara, Calls for United Action and Prayer

The Third Estate Ilorin Emirate has voiced grave concern over the alarming surge in insecurity, banditry, kidnapping, and killings across Kwara North and Kwara South Senatorial Districts, warning that the menace poses a threat to the relative peace in the Ilorin Emirate itself.

The call was made in a statement signed by Mallam Ahmed Ladan Gobir, President, and Nasir Abdulquadri, Public Relations Officer, of the Third Estate Ilorin Emirate.

The group noted that while the Emirate remains calm, the disturbing trends reported from Patigi, Oke-Ode, and other local government areas are a “warning sign that calls for immediate and united action before the menace spreads closer to home.”

While commending the ongoing efforts of the Kwara State Government and security agencies, the Third Estate called for a greater sense of urgency, collaboration, and intelligence coordination. The organization noted that the pattern of recent attacks suggests a gradual spread from border communities toward central areas, a trend that must not be ignored.

The group urged the state government, security formations, traditional institutions, and local vigilante groups to intensify surveillance, strengthen rural policing, and fully engage community leaders in early-warning mechanisms to forestall further tragedy.

In response to the escalating threats, the Third Estate made a strong appeal to indigenes and residents of Ilorin Emirate to return to the time-honored tradition of communal prayer and spiritual vigilance.

“We must rekindle that sacred spirit and call on Almighty Allah to shield our state from the deliberate onslaught of evil forces that seek to destabilize our peace,” the statement read.

It urged every mosque, church, household, and community across Kwara State to join in solemn prayers for divine intervention, stressing that peace is a divine gift that requires both spiritual and civic defense.

Non-Politicization of Security Crisis

The organization strongly cautioned against politicizing the growing insecurity, emphasizing that the challenge transcends political lines, ethnic differences, or religious affiliations.

“Bandits and criminals do not ask for party cards before attacking; their aim is to destroy the peace we all share,” the statement noted, reminding politicians that this is a time for sincerity, sacrifice, and collective effort, not propaganda or blame games.

Furthermore, the group called on parents and guardians to monitor their children closely and urged youths to resist the temptation of quick wealth and criminal ventures. All residents were encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons or movements to local authorities.
