Troops foil attack, eliminate scores of bandits in Sokoto
Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have killed several bandits in a fierce gun duel while repelling a late-night attack on Sabon Garin Kwargaba village in Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State, PRNigeria learnt.

According to security sources, the incident occurred on October 7 at about 11:30 p.m. when a large group of heavily armed bandits stormed the community, shooting indiscriminately to instill fear among residents.
Troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in the area swiftly mobilized to the scene and engaged the attackers in a prolonged gun battle. The exchange of fire reportedly lasted several minutes, forcing the bandits to retreat into the forest with heavy losses.
“Several of the assailants were neutralized, while others escaped with gunshot wounds. Sadly, one soldier and a female civilian lost their lives during the encounter,” a source revealed.
