GOCOP Elects Danlami Nmodu as President, Inaugurates New EXCO
The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) has inaugurated a new executive committee with veteran journalist and publisher, Danlami Nmodu, mni, emerging as the new President of the association.
The inauguration, which took place in Lagos after the Guild’s Annual General Congress, marked a leadership transition from the immediate past President, Dr. Maureen Chigbo, publisher of RealNews.
Other members of the newly elected executive include Mr. Olumide Iyanda (Deputy President), Mr. Sufuyan Ojeifo (General Secretary), Mr. Akeem Oyetunji (Deputy General Secretary), Ms. Ngozi Onyeakusi (Treasurer), Mr. Moses Ebosele (Financial Secretary), and Ms. Kemi Yesufu (Publicity Secretary).
In his acceptance speech, Nmodu expressed deep appreciation to members of GOCOP for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to uphold the values, ideals, and constitution of the Guild.

“I take the responsibility of this office seriously. Our members will always come first. I promise to work harmoniously with other executive officers and members to take GOCOP to a higher level of growth within the online publishing community in Nigeria,” he said.
Nmodu, who co-founded Newsdiaryonline, also assured members that his administration would focus on creating more human capital development and business opportunities for online publishers across the country.
The presidential election was the only contested position, with Nmodu polling 63 votes to defeat his opponent, Mr. Segun Adeleye, while other officers were returned unopposed.
Chairman of the GOCOP 2025 Electoral Committee, Mr. Yusuf Ozi-Usman, announced that of the 120 registered members, 114 were eligible to vote and be voted for.
He added that 80 members attended the congress physically, while 71 voted in person and nine participated through e-voting.
The new president and executive members were immediately inaugurated after the announcement of results, with the event rounding off the 2025 Annual General Meeting of the Guild.
