NDLEA Operatives Nab Businessman After Excreting 127 Wraps of Cocaine at Kano Airport

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 52-year-old businessman, Ejiofor Godwin Emeka, at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano, after he excreted 127 wraps of cocaine concealed in his private parts and stomach.

Emeka, who operates boutiques in Lagos and Onitsha, Anambra State, was apprehended on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, on arrival from Bangkok, Thailand, aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight, following credible intelligence.

According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, a body scan confirmed that the suspect had ingested illicit drugs and concealed more in his private part. “A total of 58 wraps of cocaine were recovered from his pant, while another 69 wraps were egested during excretion observation, bringing the total to 127 wraps weighing 1.388 kilograms,” Babafemi stated.

In a related operation, NDLEA operatives intercepted three consignments of illicit drugs heading to the United Kingdom on October 9 and 10 at a courier company in Lagos. The seizures included 1.74kg of methamphetamine hidden in blocks of glass ceramics, 114 grams of pentazocine, 168 grams of tramadol injections, and 48 grams of tramadol capsules concealed in Vitamin C containers.

Further interceptions at other courier companies in Lagos uncovered 2.6kg of skunk and 422 grams of tapentadol 250mg disguised as black soap tablets bound for Turkey; 169 grams of cocaine concealed in ladies’ handbags headed to Australia; and 568 grams of “Loud,” a potent strain of cannabis, packed in herbal containers destined for the United Arab Emirates.

At the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, 27,510 pills of rohypnol hidden in sachets of alcoholic drinks bound for South Africa were also seized. NDLEA operatives arrested a freight agent and a cab driver linked to the consignment, leading to a follow-up operation at Oyingbo Market, Lagos, where the alleged mastermind, Samuel Omoruyi (46), alias Yellow, was arrested on October 2.

On the same day, an Italy-based businessman, Enehizena Augustine Uyimwen, was caught attempting to export 3,700 pills of tramadol 225mg and 2,600 tablets of tapentadol 200mg concealed in food items to Italy. Uyimwen reportedly confessed that he was paid €945 to traffic the drugs.

Across other states, NDLEA operatives recorded a series of arrests and seizures. In Edo State, a raid on the residence of Emmanuel Sunday (33) in Etsako Central LGA led to the recovery of 47kg of skunk. Similarly, in Osun State, two suspects—Nureni Ayobami Eleweodo (48) and Oladejo Taiwo (52)—were arrested at Omifufun village, Ife South LGA, with 635kg of skunk, while another duo, Timothy Omiwole (41) and Isaac Achiatan (36), were caught with 100kg of the same substance.

In Rivers State, Okoro Julius (20) and Onyebuchi Nwibo (25) were arrested for possessing 8.5kg of skunk, while Sulaiman Kalalu (46) was nabbed in Jibia, Katsina State, with 29.5kg of the substance.

NDLEA operatives in Niger State arrested Yisa Daniel (29) at New Bussa with 22,000 tramadol capsules, 800 pentazocine ampoules, and 150,000 Exol-5 pills. In Ondo State, 312kg of skunk was recovered from a bush in Ologede Camp, Ogbese, and along the Benin-Lagos expressway, two suspects—Francis John (39) and Adeyemi Taiwo (46)—were caught with 141.8kg of skunk.

In Kaduna, Rufai Ahmed (27), also known as Farin Malam, was intercepted at the Abuja-Kaduna toll gate transporting 150,000 Exol-5 pills from Lagos to Katsina.

Meanwhile, the NDLEA continued its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization campaign in schools, workplaces, worship centres, and communities across the country. Educational institutions reached last week included General Murtala Mohammed College, Yola; Assembly of God Secondary School, Abakaliki; Community Girls Secondary School, Bakori; Girls Secondary School, Nenwe; and Government Secondary School, Borikiri, Port Harcourt, among others.

While commending the officers involved in the various operations, NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd.), urged them to sustain their professionalism, vigilance, and commitment to the agency’s drug control mandate.
