Kano Police Bust Armed Robbery Syndicate, Arrest 9 Suspects, Recover Weapons
The Kano State Police Command has achieved a major breakthrough in its fight against violent crime, arresting nine suspects linked to a series of armed robbery operations and recovering rifles, pistols, knives, and other dangerous weapons.
The arrests follow an armed robbery incident on October 8, 2025, at approximately 2 a.m. in Unguwar Wambai, Dorayi Babba Quarters, Kano, where robbers attacked a residence, stealing a Toyota Yaris, N3.7 million in cash, three mobile phones, and other valuables. The suspects also brutally assaulted the complainant’s wife, reportedly removing one of her teeth with a diamond, causing grievous hurt.
Following the incident, officers from the Dorayi Divisional Headquarters apprehended one suspect. Acting on instructions from the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, the Command’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS) conducted coordinated operations across Kano and Kaduna States, rounding up the remaining eight suspects.
The arrested suspects, aged between 17 and 24, include:

According to the police, the suspects confessed to involvement in multiple armed robbery operations in Abuja, Kaduna, and Kano States, including the recent robbery at Unguwar Jakada, Dorayi Quarters, Kano.

One double-barrel gun with 18 live cartridges
One English Falcon pistol
One scrapped Phoenix pistol
One iron cutter
Two cutlasses
Four knives
Three torchlights
One Toyota Corolla LE (red, registration ADK 787 EV)
Two mobile phones
CP Bakori said all suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigations, and the Command continues efforts to recover additional stolen items.
The Commissioner also highlighted the success of “Operation Kukan Kura,” a community-based crime-fighting initiative credited with significantly reducing crime across the state, including mobile phone snatching, robbery, and thuggery (Fadan Daba) activities.
“I commend the officers involved for their bravery and professionalism. Their dedication has led to this significant breakthrough, and I urge all officers to continue working tirelessly to ensure the safety of Kano State residents,” CP Bakori said.
He further encouraged public participation in crime prevention, thanking citizens for providing information that aided the operation.
This operation underscores the Kano State Police Command’s commitment to aggressively and strategically tackling criminal activities to ensure the safety of lives and property across the state.
