Troops Raid Terrorist Camps in Taraba; Recover AK-47, Military Uniforms

Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have neutralised terrorist hideouts in Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State, recovering arms, ammunition, and military uniforms.

The operation, conducted on 14 October 2025, was part of the ongoing clearance operations codenamed Operation Lafiya Nakowa aimed at flushing out terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements from the state.

A statement by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, said the troops received credible intelligence on the hideouts of suspected terrorists operating around Badekoshi, Fajul, Kurmi, and Dampar villages under Ibi LGA.

He said the troops made contact with the terrorists at Badekoshi village, forcing them to flee towards Fajul after a brief exchange of fire. The troops pursued the fleeing criminals with superior firepower, compelling them to abandon their positions and escape deeper into the forest.

Items recovered during the operation include one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, one round of 7.62mm special ammunition, five rounds of blank ammunition, two fragmental jackets, two military camouflage uniforms, and one Jincheng motorcycle suspected to have been stolen during a previous attack in Tapga village.

The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their professionalism and resilience. He urged them to sustain the momentum until all criminal elements are eliminated from Taraba State.

The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of law-abiding citizens and working with other security agencies to achieve lasting peace in the state.
