Police Intercept Suspects, Recover 75 Phones, 5 Laptops in Lagos

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command have recovered 75 mobile gadgets and five laptops abandoned by fleeing suspects during a routine patrol in Ikeja.

The recovery occurred around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2025, when RRS operatives on patrol sighted two men carrying two large “Ghana Must Go” bags near Allen Roundabout, Ikeja. The suspects reportedly took to their heels upon noticing the police team, abandoning the bags.

A subsequent search of the bags revealed 32 iPhones of various models, 38 other smartphones including Samsung, Redmi, Tecno, and Honor brands, as well as five laptops, several smart wristwatches, AirPods, a Samsung Tab, a Sorapad, and some damaged phones believed to have been stolen from different parts of Ikeja and nearby areas.

Confirming the incident, the Commander of the Rapid Response Squad, CSP Shola Jejeloye, said preliminary investigations indicated that the recovered items were stolen property hurriedly abandoned by the fleeing suspects.

He urged members of the public who recently lost similar devices to visit the RRS Headquarters in Alausa with verifiable proof of ownership to facilitate proper identification and retrieval of their belongings.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Moshood Jimoh, commended the RRS operatives for their vigilance and professionalism. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to proactive and intelligence-driven policing aimed at enhancing public safety across Lagos State.

The Police Public Relations Officer for the Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
