Troops Raid Bandits Hideout, Recover Cache of Arms, Ammunition in Plateau
Troops of the 3 Division/Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace (JTF OPEP) have recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during a raid on a suspected bandits’ hideout in Rawaya Village, near Kazok, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Media Information Officer of Operation Enduring Peace, Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, the operation followed credible intelligence indicating that bandits in the area were stockpiling weapons.

Zhakom disclosed that the troops launched a swift raid on the hideout, forcing the suspected bandit to flee moments before their arrival. However, a thorough search of the location led to the recovery of a significant cache of weapons and ammunition.
Items recovered included two AK-47 rifles, one G3 rifle, one revolver pistol, four AK-47 magazines, three G3 rifle magazines, 1,198 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, four rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition, three mobile phones, and other sundry items.
The statement added that the recovered arms and ammunition are in custody for further investigation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect and his collaborators.
Major Zhakom reaffirmed the military’s commitment to sustaining its operations across the Joint Task Force Area, stressing that Operation Enduring Peace will remain resolute in dismantling criminal networks and maintaining peace and security in Plateau State and its environs.
