NAF Commissions New Paediatric Ward, Renovates General Ward in Kano Community Hospital
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commissioned a newly constructed Paediatric Ward and renovated General Ward at the Gwagwarwa Comprehensive Clinic and Maternity Centre in Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The project, commissioned on Thursday, October 23, 2025, was executed under the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar’s Special Intervention Quick Impact Projects (QIP) initiative, aimed at strengthening civil-military relations and improving healthcare delivery in host communities.
The intervention, dedicated in honour of Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Kabir Mukhtar Umar, included furnishing and equipping the new Paediatric Ward as well as rehabilitating the General Ward. The facility now boasts modern amenities such as solar lighting, 20 hospital beds, oxygen concentrators, radiant warmers, pulse oximeters, and resuscitators, all designed to enhance patient care and comfort.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the CAS, represented by the Chief of Civil-Military Relations, AVM Ibikunle Daramola, said the project underscores NAF’s belief that national security is best achieved through cooperation and mutual trust between the military and the people.
