Military Repels ISWAP Fighters in Gamboru Ngala
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully repelled an attempted infiltration by fighters of the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) in Gamboru Ngala, a border town in northern Borno State.
It was gathered that, the insurgents launched the attack on Saturday evening at about 6:15 p.m., attempting to breach the town through the Flatari axis.
Military sources said the troops responded swiftly with superior firepower, forcing the terrorists to retreat after a brief but intense exchange of gunfire.

“No casualty was recorded during the encounter. The troops are currently conducting pursuit operations to track down the fleeing elements,” one of the sources confirmed.
Normalcy has since returned to Gamboru Ngala, with residents commending the vigilance and prompt response of the military, whose quick action prevented what could have been a major attack.
Gamboru Ngala, which shares a border with Cameroon, remains a strategic location often targeted by insurgents due to its proximity to transnational routes used for smuggling and the movement of fighters.
The latest attack is part of ongoing attempts by the terrorists to test the strength of military positions in the North-East, even as the Nigerian Armed Forces sustain aggressive operations aimed at eliminating the remnants of Boko Haram and ISWAP from the region.
