After Katarko Clash, Troops Neutralize 10 Terrorists in Gamboru–Dikwa Operation

In another decisive blow to remnants of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists, troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have neutralized ten insurgents and recovered a cache of weapons and equipment during a fierce encounter along the Gamboru–Dikwa–Marte axis of Borno State.

The latest success comes barely days after troops neutralized over 50 terrorists in a previous encounter around Katarko, Yobe State, signaling renewed momentum in ongoing counter-insurgency operations across the North-East theatre.

According to a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, the coordinated operation was executed by troops of Sector 1 from the 24 Task Force Brigade during a night ambush aimed at disrupting terrorist movement towards Gamboru Ngala.

“At about 23:50 hours on 25 October 2025, troops, while manning a pre-established ambush position, detected hostile movement from the Flatari axis attempting to infiltrate Gamboru Ngala. The insurgents were decisively engaged with heavy firepower, forcing them to retreat towards Dikwa. In a follow-up operation, troops launched another ambush along the Dikwa–Marte road, neutralizing ten terrorists and recovering arms and equipment,” the statement said.

Recovered items include five AK-47 rifles, one PKT machine gun, three locally made guns, two fabricated pistols, five loaded AK-47 magazines, boxes of 7.62mm ammunition, motorcycles, bicycles, a radio set, and assorted personal items such as charms, blankets, and raincoats.

Lieutenant Colonel Uba added that at first light, the troops conducted a clearance operation across the engagement area, confirming the death of the ten insurgents and the recovery of the listed arms and ammunition.

The Military High Command commended the troops for their gallantry, vigilance, and tactical precision, noting that the success of the Gamboru–Dikwa ambush demonstrates the sustained effectiveness of offensive operations under Operation HADIN KAI.

“This operation reaffirms the Nigerian Army’s resolve to maintain aggressive postures against terrorists, safeguard civilian populations, and restore enduring peace across the North-East region,” the statement added.
