Badaru to Service Chiefs: Strengthen Unity, Deliver Results

The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, on Tuesday, charged the newly appointed Service Chiefs to strengthen unity within the Armed Forces and deliverDefence Minister and the newly appointed service chiefs measurable results in the fight against insecurity.

Receiving the Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Major General Waidi Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke, during their maiden courtesy visit at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters, Ship House, Abuja, Badaru said the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu expects renewed synergy and disciplined leadership from the new defence team.

Defence Minister and the newly appointed service chiefs

A statement by Mati Ali, Personal Assistant on Media & Publicity to the Honourable Minister of Defence, on Tuesday in Abuja.

The Minister, who congratulated the top officers on their appointments, described the new security leadership as a reflection of the President’s commitment to strengthening the nation’s defence architecture.

“Your appointments come at a time Nigeria needs a united and focused command structure. The President has reposed great confidence in you. It is now your duty to translate that trust into tangible results on the ground,” Badaru stated.

He emphasized the need for closer coordination among the services, joint operations planning, and intelligence-sharing to ensure effective response to emerging threats across the country.

The Defence Minister reiterated that the Ministry under his watch will continue to provide strategic guidance, oversight, and the necessary support for the Armed Forces to fulfill their constitutional roles.

In attendance at the meeting were senior officials of the Ministry and principal staff officers of the Defence Headquarters.

Badaru reaffirmed his belief that under the renewed defence leadership, Nigeria’s Armed Forces would sustain operational momentum, enhance professionalism, and maintain public trust in their ongoing efforts to safeguard national unity and stability.
