Kano Police Nab 2 Armed Robbers, Recover Vehicle Stolen from NAF Officer in Abuja

Operatives of the Kano State Police Command have arrested two suspected notorious armed robbers who allegedly robbed an Air Force officer of his vehicle at gunpoint in Abuja. The arrest, which followed credible intelligence and swift police action, also led to the recovery of the stolen Ford Escape SUV.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the suspects — identified as Adamu Adam Abubakar of Zoo Road, Kano, and Umar Bello of Nasarawa Dirkania, Kaduna State — were apprehended in the early hours of October 29, 2025, along the Kano-Zaria Expressway near Salbas Filling Station.

The police disclosed that at about 3:15 a.m. on the same day, armed robbers invaded a residence in Karu, Abuja, where they carted away cash, mobile phones, and the officer’s Ford Escape vehicle. Intelligence reports indicated that the suspects were heading toward Kano, prompting the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad to mount a strategic interception.

“During the operation, the suspects engaged the operatives in a gun duel. Two of them were demobilized and arrested,” the statement said. However, one of their accomplices, identified as Dan Malam (surname unknown), escaped with a pistol and some stolen valuables. Police efforts are ongoing to track him down.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, Ph.D., commended the Intelligence Unit of the Force Headquarters, Abuja, for their coordination and support, as well as the Command’s operatives for their professionalism and bravery.

He urged residents to continue assisting the police with credible and timely information to enhance the fight against crime, assuring the public that the Command will not relent until the fleeing suspect is apprehended and brought to justice.
