Military Neutralises Insurgents, Recover Logistics in Gwoza Ambush
Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) under Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised two Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists during a successful ambush around Hudugum village in the Hambagda area, along the Gwoza–Limankara road in Borno State.
The operation, part of Operation Desert Sanity IV/Diligent Search, was conducted by the 192 Battalion (Main) in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF). Sources revealed that contact was made with the terrorists’ logistics elements at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, prompting a swift engagement with superior firepower.
Two terrorists were confirmed neutralised, while several others fled in disarray towards the foothills of the Mandara Mountains, reportedly sustaining gunshot wounds. There were no casualties or equipment losses on the side of the troops.

During a post-operation sweep, the troops recovered a range of items from the ambush site, including three bicycles, six wrappers, four containers of Vaseline, a torchlight, a small solar panel, four mats, six pieces of fabric, two blankets, a sachet of salt, a sachet of seasoning, two pairs of shorts, a white singlet, a portion of bush meat, and two phone cases.
The operation, described as “hitch-free”, concluded with troops safely returning to base by 7:50 p.m. Security sources indicated that further exploitation of the terrorists’ likely withdrawal routes would be conducted at first light, while the general security situation in the area remains calm but unpredictable.
The JTF noted that the morale and fighting efficiency of its troops remain high, reinforcing ongoing efforts to secure communities in Borno State against insurgent activities.
