Air Chief Redeploys 25 Senior Officers in Major Shake-Up to Boost Operational Efficiency
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has approved the redeployment of 25 senior officers to key command and staff appointments as part of ongoing efforts to enhance operational effectiveness and align the service’s structure with the vision of the new Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke.
According to a statement released on Friday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the reorganisation aims to improve decision-making, strengthen coordination across commands, and bolster readiness in response to current security challenges confronting the nation.
Under the new postings, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Abubakar Abdullahi becomes the Chief of Policy and Plans, while AVM Adeniran Ademuwagun assumes duty as Commandant, Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna. AVM Ibitayo Ajiboye was appointed Group Managing Director, Nigerian Air Force Investment Limited Group of Companies (NAFIL GOC).
Similarly, AVM Precious Amadi is now the Chief of Operations, and AVM Nnamdi Ananaba has been named Chief of Air Intelligence. AVM Ebimobo Ebiowe assumes the role of Superintendent of Standards and Evaluation, while AVM Ahmed Dari takes charge as Chief of Training. The Transformation and Innovation Branch will now be headed by AVM Mohammed Ibrahim.

In the logistics and engineering domains, AVM Olufemi Ogunsina was appointed Chief of Aircraft Engineering, and AVM Michael Onyebashi becomes the Air Officer Commanding, Mobility Command. AVM David Pwajok now serves as Chief of Communication and Information Systems, while AVM John Ukeh assumes the position of Air Provost Marshal.
Further strengthening the NAF’s administrative and welfare framework, AVM Simon Peter was named Managing Director, NAFIL Housing and Construction Company, and AVM Chidiebere Obiabaka becomes Air Secretary. AVM Anthony Martins is now Chief of Administration, AVM Abubakar Sule takes over as Air Officer Commanding, Logistics Command, and AVM Abdulrasheed Kotun becomes Managing Director, NAF Farms. In addition, AVM Edward Gabkwet was appointed Chief of Civil-Military Relations, while AVM Osichinaka Ubadike will serve as Deputy Commandant, AFIT.
The statement added that other senior officers—including AVMs Ahmed Bakari, Albert Bot, Idi Sani, Muhammed Suleiman, Jibrin Usman, and Japheht Ekwuribe—have been posted to various defence and inter-service establishments to strengthen joint operational synergy.
The redeployment exercise, which took effect a day after Air Marshal Aneke assumed office, reflects his immediate commitment to repositioning the Air Force for greater efficiency. It also follows a similar shake-up recently announced by the Nigerian Army in its top command structure.
