Delta Police Intercept 178 Live Cartridges, Rescue Kidnap Victims in Coordinated Raids
The Delta State Police Command has recorded significant breakthroughs against armed criminality and illicit arms proliferation, successfully intercepting a large cache of ammunition and rescuing three kidnap victims in coordinated operations across Bomadi, Asaba, and Ubeji communities.
The achievements, recorded on October 30, 2025, were the result of intelligence-led policing and swift tactical responses.
Operatives of the Bomadi Division, in a joint stop-and-search operation with the Bomadi Vigilante, intercepted a motorcycle along the Bomadi–Tuomo Road at about 12:30 hrs. They discovered a concealed sack containing 178 live cartridges .
The passenger, identified as Charter Timide (62), was arrested. When interrogated, the suspect confessed to purchasing the ammunition from Onitsha Main Market and was attempting to deliver them to the Tuomo Community. The suspect and recovered exhibits have been transferred to the State Headquarters for further investigation to trace potential links to armed groups or black-market suppliers.

In a separate operation, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ekpan Division received a distress report of a kidnapping incident behind the Ubeji Gas Plant. DPO CSP Labe Joseph swiftly deployed detectives and patrol operatives to the scene.
The suspected kidnappers fled into an abandoned poultry house upon sighting the police teams. The area was swiftly cordoned off, leading to the arrest of seven suspects, all of Ubeji Community: Felix Omone (33), Solomon Omone (29), Tony Eboye (34), Omone David (32), Jerry Omone (33), Godspower Omone (25), and Edewho Bomele (33).
The operation successfully rescued three male victims from Jeddo Community. Preliminary investigation revealed the victims were abducted at a dredging site in Ubeji and threatened with death if ransom demands were not met. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend fleeing accomplices.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to curbing kidnapping, armed robbery, and illicit arms proliferation in Delta State.
The public was urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to the Command Control Room.
