Military Foil Terrorist Attacks, Eliminate Scores Across North East Region
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) under the Joint Task Force North East have successfully thwarted multiple terrorist attacks and neutralized significant threats across Borno and Adamawa States between October 25 and 31, 2025, the Nigerian military has announced.
The military said the operations, which included engagements in Kukawa, Gwoza–Limankara, and areas near the Sambisa Forest, prevented potential attacks on civilians and disrupted terrorist logistics networks.
On October 25, troops intercepted an attempted Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) targeting Kukawa Town. The vehicle, initially resistant to RPG fire due to its armored surface, was eventually neutralized by a T-55 tank. A 10-year-old civilian girl sustained minor injuries and received medical attention, while the attackers fled the scene.
In collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), soldiers also discovered and safely dismantled three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) along the Dikwa–Ajiri axis, averting potential sabotage on key supply routes.
Further operations on October 29 saw troops of 192 Battalion and CJTF execute a successful ambush in the Gwoza–Limankara area, neutralizing two terrorists and forcing others to flee into the Mandara Mountains. Recovered items revealed continued terrorist reliance on bicycles and local food supplies.
