Nigerians Will Resist Any Attempted U.S. Invasion – Fani-Kayode Warns Trump

Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has vowed that Nigerians will resist any military action by the United States following a directive reportedly issued by former U.S. President Donald Trump to the Department of War to prepare for a possible strike on Nigeria.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Fani-Kayode condemned Trump’s remarks, describing the former American leader as a “tyrant” who was threatening Nigeria with violence and invasion.

“Imagine a deranged, sociopathic megalomaniac and tyrant — a recalcitrant, unrepentant bully and a godless scumbag like @realDonaldTrump — threatening our country with violence, military action, and invasion. What a nerve!” he wrote.

The former minister said a friend had expressed concern about Trump’s statement, prompting him to reaffirm that Nigerians would not flee the country but stand their ground to defend their sovereignty if the U.S. carried out any attack.

“They are evil, and if he carries out his abominable threat, there will be war. We shall not leave the country; we will fight it out with them,” he said. “Perhaps, after it is all over, Nigerians will appreciate the importance of having bold, articulate, and courageous leaders and disavow themselves of cowardice, ignorance, and complacency.”

Fani-Kayode accused Trump of double standards, alleging that the former U.S. president had turned a blind eye to atrocities in Sudan and Israel while unfairly portraying Nigeria as a hostile nation.

“Trump, a fascist and an associate of the globally recognized Hitler of the 21st century, Benjamin Netanyahu, has refused to condemn the Israeli Zionists and the RSF butchers of Darfur for genocide,” he stated. “Instead, he is branding Nigerians as killers of Christians and trying to tag our nation with genocide to provoke a crisis.”

Trump’s controversial statement appeared on his Truth Social account on Saturday, where he accused the Nigerian government of failing to stop what he described as “the genocide of Christians” in the country. He warned that the United States would suspend all aid to Nigeria and might consider direct military intervention to “eliminate Islamic terrorists.”

“If the Nigerian government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria and may very well go into that now disgraced country, guns blazing, to completely wipe out the Islamic terrorists committing these horrible atrocities,” Trump wrote.

He further declared that he had instructed the U.S. Department of War to “prepare for possible action,” warning that any American attack “will be fast, vicious, and sweet.”

Trump’s statement has sparked global outrage, with several political commentators and diplomats warning that such rhetoric could inflame tensions and undermine international peace efforts in West Africa.
