Air Chief Orders Ruthless Air Strikes to Crush Insurgents
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has ordered Nigerian Air Force (NAF) operatives to intensify and launch ruthless, precision-based air strikes against insurgents and criminal elements across the country.
Aneke issued the directive during his first operational briefing with senior commanders at the NAF Headquarters, today in Abuja, stressing the need for “smarter, harder, and decisive” air campaigns to neutralize terrorists threatening national security.
A statement by Air Commodore, Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at confirmed the meeting and Aneke’s directives, adding that the NAF will sustain joint operations with sister services and step up accountability and transparency in all strikes.
He said the era of complacency and reactive responses was over, urging field commanders to dominate the battlespace through proactive intelligence, rapid deployment, and coordinated joint operations with other security agencies.

“We are entering a new phase of total air dominance. There will be no safe haven for insurgents, bandits, or oil thieves. Our strikes will be ruthless but precise, ensuring the protection of civilians while dismantling the enemy’s strongholds,” the Air Chief declared.
Aneke emphasized that his command philosophy would prioritize operational excellence, personnel welfare, and advanced technological integration, noting that intelligence-driven air operations will define the NAF’s new approach to counterterrorism.
According to him, special strike teams and surveillance drones will now be deployed around key theatres of operation, including the North-East, North-West, and Niger Delta, to ensure 24-hour monitoring and rapid engagement of threats.
He also assured that welfare and capacity building for NAF personnel will receive renewed attention, describing a motivated and well-trained force as crucial to achieving air superiority and national stability.
“Every mission must count. Every strike must send a message that Nigeria’s airspace and territorial integrity are not negotiable,” Aneke added.
