IGP, Advocacy Group Praise Lagos Police Over Infrastructure and Rule of Law
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has hailed Lagos State Police Command for building a new multi-purpose hall, calling it a ‘foundation for vision, progress, and excellent service.
This is coming as an advocacy group also commended the command for for Lawful Conduct and enforcement excellence.
Egbetokun commended the command during the foundation laying ceremony of the IGP Egbetokun Conference Hall at the command headquarters, Ikeja.
He highlighted Lagos as a unique security landscape that often served as a model for policing across Nigeria, saying the new hall, which replaces an older facility, will not only function as a conference center but also support various operational needs of the command.
According to him, as they are laying bricks, they are also laying hope and stronger bonds for efficient policing in Nigeria, professionalism, discipline, and excellent service.
He called on other commissioners across the country to emulate the Lagos State Police Command’s initiative, emphasising the importance of improving infrastructure and service delivery in policing.
The IGP also addressed security preparations for the upcoming Anambra gubernatorial election scheduled for Saturday.
He assured Nigerians that the police were fully prepared to provide security, with senior officers already deployed to supervise all security agencies involved, saying voters in Anambra should come out to cast their vote. A level playing ground will be provided for all candidates.
The Nigeria police do not have a candidate in this election, the force’s loyalty remains with the Federal Republic of Nigeria, ” he said.

Turning to the upcoming festive period, the Police Chief stated that preparations for the Christmas and New Year season had been ongoing across all commands.
He assured the public that adequate security measures were in place to ensure safe travel and celebrations.
Addressing the recent upsurge in crime, including banditry and kidnapping, Egbetokun emphasised a community-based approach to tackling insecurity.
He said Security is not something provided in silos, saying all hands must work in synergy with other security agencies and all communities in Nigeria.
The Inspector-General of Police urged citizens to support security agencies by avoiding the spread of false information.
Meanwhile, the Association of Civil Society Organizations for Peace and Security (ACOSOPS), an Abuja-based coalition, has commended the Lagos Police Command for abiding by the rule of law and adherence to die process.
In a statement signed by Comrade James Okoronkwo and Mr. Johnson Eze, ACOSOPS defended the actions of the security agencies in maintaining law and order in the state.
The group emphasized that any attempt to portray lawful security measures as disobedience to court orders is a misrepresentation of facts.
The affirmed that the Lagos State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Jimoh Moshood, has continued to act in accordance with the law, describing him as a “fine and transparent police officer.”
The coalition urged the public to remain calm and allow the judicial process to run its full course. They reiterated their commitment to defending the integrity of Nigeria’s security institutions and warned strongly against politicizing security matters, stressing that national security must take precedence over individual interests.
The association called on all stakeholders to support efforts to maintain peace and order in the country.
