Expect Improved Security, Army Chief Tells Nigerians After Meeting Tinubu
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has assured Nigerians of improved security nationwide, following his operational briefing to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House, Abuja, on Tuesday.
Speaking to journalists after the closed-door meeting, the Army Chief said Nigerians should expect a positive shift in the nation’s security situation in the coming weeks, citing steady progress across various theatres of operation.
“Improved security across the country,” he said confidently when asked what Nigerians should expect next.
Lieutenant General Shaibu disclosed that his briefing to the President focused on the outcome of his recent operational tour of the Northeast, as well as an assessment of the broader security landscape.

He noted that current field reports indicate increased synergy among security agencies and growing pressure on insurgent and criminal networks.
“I came to brief him on the outcome of my visit to the Northeast region and then look at other security situations across the country, which was satisfactory within this period,” he explained.
Although the Army Chief did not disclose operational details, his assurance comes amid intensified joint military operations across several states particularly in the North targeting insurgents, bandits, and other violent groups.
The reassurance also followed a successful series of air interdictions by the Nigerian Air Force over the weekend, in which coordinated precision strikes neutralised scores of terrorists in Borno, Katsina, and Kwara States, further weakening their operational strongholds.
General Shaibu reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to working closely with sister services and security agencies to sustain momentum against emerging threats and restore lasting peace across the country.
