NAF Graduates Drone Pilots to Boost Precision Warfare, National Security

…as Air Force deepens technology-driven air operations under Air Marshal Aneke

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has recorded another major stride in its ongoing modernization and capacity-building drive with the graduation and winging of nine newly trained Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) operators under Course 4 Batch B.

The ceremony took place on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at the 401 Flying Training School, Kaduna.

Representing the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the Air Officer Commanding, Air Training Command, Air Vice Marshal Ahmed Yusuf Dari, congratulated the new UAV pilots, describing the event as a proud milestone in NAF’s transformation toward smarter, technology-driven, and precision-led air operations.

Air Marshal Aneke, in his remarks, said the new UAV operators now bear the noble responsibility of defending Nigeria’s airspace with professionalism, precision, and honour. He stressed that UAVs have become indispensable tools in modern warfare, offering real-time intelligence, surveillance, and precision engagement capabilities that are critical in the fight against insurgency, terrorism, and other security challenges confronting the nation.

The Air Chief commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his unwavering support in advancing an agile and technologically capable Air Force. According to him, “in today’s battlespace, precision—not brute force—defines true operational success.”

Under Air Marshal Aneke’s leadership, the Nigerian Air Force has continued to strengthen its operational effectiveness through sustained innovation, intensive training, and the integration of cutting-edge technologies. The graduation of the new UAV operators, he said, reflects the Service’s firm commitment to enhancing precision airpower and protecting Nigerian lives across all theatres of operation.

The newly winged air warriors are expected to play a pivotal role in expanding NAF’s aerial intelligence and precision strike capabilities, particularly in counterterrorism and counterinsurgency missions across the country.

As they join the ranks of Nigeria’s elite UAV pilots, the graduates symbolize the spirit of a modern Air Force—flying smarter, saving lives, and serving the nation with unflinching honour.
