Badaru Leads Nigerian Delegation to Inaugural Bamako Defence and Security Expo
The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, on Thursday arrived in Bamako, Mali, for the maiden Bamako International Defence and Security Exhibition (BAMEX 2025), a new platform bringing together military leaders and security innovators from across Africa.
A statement signed by Mati Ali, Personal Assistant on (Media & Publicity) to the Minister, disclose this yesterday.
Badaru landed at the Military Wing of the Bamako International Airport where he was received by Mali’s Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, General Sadio Camara, and top officials of the Malian Armed Forces. A ceremonial guard parade was mounted in his honour, reflecting the strong military ties between Abuja and Bamako.

Immediately after the reception, both Ministers held a strategic closed-door meeting. Discussions focused on strengthening Nigeria–Mali defence cooperation, improving regional intelligence networks, and expanding joint operations against insurgency, terrorism, and transnational criminal groups operating across the Sahel corridor.
BAMEX 2025, debuting this year, serves as a critical gathering for African countries and global partners to display next-generation defence technologies, explore tactical innovations, and build coalitions to tackle evolving security threats on the continent.
He noted that Badaru’s participation signals Nigeria’s continued push for stronger defence diplomacy under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, especially as the country scales up military modernization and deepens partnerships essential for restoring stability across West Africa.
