Families of Yusuf Alli and General Maina Celebrate Children’s Wedding in Abuja
A host of dignitaries, including retired military officers and media executives, gathered in Abuja on Friday as the families of Mallam Yusuf Alli, Managing Editor of The Nation (Northern Operation), and retired Major General Saleh Maina united their children in matrimony.
The wedding Fatiha, solemnized at the Annoor (Annur) Mosque, Abuja, joined Mubarak Yusuf Alli and Maryam Maina.
The ceremony was graced by high-profile figures, with former National Security Adviser (NSA), Colonel Sambo Dasuki (Rtd), representing the groom’s family as the Waliyi (surety) at the Islamic wedding. Speaking after the ceremony, Dasuki prayed for peace and tranquility for the couple and urged them to respect each other in accordance with Islamic injunctions.
Emotional Father Pays Tribute to Wife
Mallam Yusuf Alli, the father of the groom, described the event as the happiest day of his life. Visibly emotional, the veteran journalist noted the ceremony brought back fond memories of his own wedding day.

“Today is my happiest day because I remember the day I married, and it’s replicating what I experienced. Alhamdulillah,” Mallam Alli said.
He prayed for Allah to bless the union, strengthen the couple’s faith, and grant them a peaceful and fruitful home. The journalist also congratulated his wife for her crucial role in raising the groom, noting that his career often kept him constantly on the move.
Groom Pledges to Emulate Parents
The groom, Mubarak Yusuf Alli, paid glowing tribute to his father, whom he described as his greatest mentor.
“He’s someone that I look up to; he basically taught me everything I know. I promise him that I will not disappoint him,” Mubarak said. He added that he looks forward to replicating the strong home life he grew up in. “I look forward to replicating what he has had with my mom and even do better. Insha Allah.”
The well-attended event concluded with a wedding reception, celebrating the union that brought together two prominent families from the media and military sectors.
