Brigade Commander Safe as Troops Repel Terrorists Ambush in Wajiroko – Army

Troops of the 25 Task Force Brigade, accompanied by members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), successfully repelled a sudden ambush by terrorists while returning from a routine patrol near Wajiroko in Azir Multe, Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.

The patrol, led by Brigadier General M. Uba, Commander of the 25 Brigade, had ventured into the fringes of the Sambisa Forest to secure local communities when insurgents launched a heavy and coordinated attack.

Despite the intensity of the assault, the combined forces of the Nigerian Army and CJTF fought back with superior firepower, forcing the attackers to retreat in disarray.

Tragically, two soldiers and two CJTF members lost their lives during the encounter. The Army high command commended the troops for their courage while extending condolences to the families and associates of the fallen heroes for their ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.

In a statement made available to journalists by Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, the Army also moved to dispel false reports circulating online alleging the abduction of Brigadier General Uba during the operation. The statement urged the public to disregard such misinformation.

Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, Nigerian Army Medal, praised the bravery, resilience, and dedication of the troops operating in one of the country’s most dangerous conflict zones, noting that their commitment exemplifies the sacrifices being made daily to safeguard Nigeria.
