NAF ‘Surgical’ Airstrikes Destroy Terrorist Stronghold in Zamfara, Eliminates Several Fighters
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has recorded a significant breakthrough in the fight against terrorism in Zamfara State, following successful precision airstrikes on a major bandit stronghold in Tsafe Local Government Area.
The operation, carried out on 14 November 2025 by the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, targeted the Sauri bandit camp — a high-ground hideout identified through extensive intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance efforts.
According to the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the terrorists had been using the elevated location both as a defensive shelter and a logistics base, including for concealing rustled livestock.

Acting on verified intelligence, NAF aircraft conducted multiple coordinated strike passes on the location, scoring direct hits on the hideout and dislodging surviving fighters who attempted to escape into nearby vegetation. They were subsequently tracked and neutralised during follow-on engagements.
Ejodame confirmed that numerous terrorists were eliminated during the mission, while critical structures and logistics facilities within the camp were destroyed, dealing a major blow to the group’s operational capabilities.
He said the successful strikes reaffirm the commitment of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, who has repeatedly vowed that the NAF will “find them, hunt them down, and protect our people.”
The operation, he added, reflects the determination of the Joint Task Force and the NAF under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to deny terrorists safe havens and enhance security across Zamfara and the wider North-West region.
The latest air interdictions come amid sustained counterterrorism efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in affected communities.
